Silvertown is a rough, tough mining town. The miners there spend all their free time drinking and scaring the residents. They have driven five preachers out of the only church in town. The few members of the church ask Bill to find a parson willing to fight - with his fists. Bill gets Spence Fielding, a powerful young man from State U. Can Bill and Spence get Silvertown under control? Or will the drunken miners succeed in destroying the church?

There's trouble on Beaver Lake. A group of young men, including Henry, are racing their power boats on the lake. Most of them are racing safely, but the boys with the fastest boat are endangering everyone else using the lake. Folks want Bill to stop the speed boating. Bill comes up with a plan to stop the dangerous boating. Then the troublemakers find a way to foil Bill's plan. Who will win this battle of wits? Will Bill be able to protect innocent vacationers on Beaver Lake?

Basil Rascombe is a successful rancher on the Big Mesa. He is also a man with a big problem, his out-of-control temper. Stumpy and Henry are riding on Big Mesa when they find a badly beaten colt. They care for the yearling and put it protective custody. Basil has Stumpy arrested and taken to court. Basil WANTS the colt back. What can our rangers do to rescue both Stumpy and the colt? Can Bill get Basil to control his temper or will rage rule?

Eddie and Mr. B. become instant friends and soon go fishing together. Eddie shares his faith and his love of life with Mr. B. Then something happens to Eddie. Bill asks, "Can money give you anything you want?" What does it get Mr. Bartholomew?

Ranger Bill is worried about the situation in Bear Valley National Park. Park visitors get far too close to the bears as they feed near the park road. But new problems crop up at the park. Bears are disappearing from the park. When Bill and the boys go to investigate, they find bears sleeping along the park road. What is going on and why?

RB-080 – The Road to Fame – Young Todd Dahlgren looks for fame the “easy” way, by becoming the town troublemaker. Todd’s dad is fed up with him but doesn't know what to do. Uncle Sam may have a cure for Todd’s bad attitude – Todd’s in the U.S. Army! Even Todd’s commander has his hands full with the boy. Ranger Bill may have an idea or two on how to change Todd’s attitude.

Henry hears stories of an antique steam train abandoned way up in the Shady Mountains. The engine belonged to the Three Rs - the Rimrock, Rawhide, and Ragweed railroad. Henry goes hiking in search of the valuable old train. Henry's tough walk is rewarded when he discovers an old engine in a shed. Two men find the train first and are determined to take the engine and sell it to a collector. They tie up Henry and fire up the train to steal it. Will Bill discover the thieves, stop them, AND rescue Henry?

Snow-White Stallion - RB097

 We end the work week with a RANGER BILL story about coveting and the sin that follows.

Henry falls in love with a magnificent wild white stallion that he and his friend Pyute see on the prairie. Henry finds a way to capture the horse and keep it in a hidden location. Bill tells him that capturing a wild horse will break its spirit and kill it. Now Henry must decide if keeping his special horse is worth the cost.

Big game hunter Craig Carstares stalks the elusive Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep while a creature haunts the mountains and frightens folks in Knotty Pine. Everyone is afraid of this beast except Carstares. They think it is the Abominable Snowman. Even Bill, Stumpy, and Gray Wolf are scared when they see its tracks and hear it howling. What is this beast? Can Bill and the boys capture or kill this monster? Is Mr. Carstares safe hunting alone in the mountains?

Rogue Elephant - RB094

Long lost elephant Mahmud the Mighty attacks homes and farms. Circus owner Baxter B. Bixby offers to catch this animal now gone wild. Ranger Bill isn’t convinced that Mr. Bixby is qualified to capture any animal in the mountains, let alone a crazed elephant. Bixby has a plan to capture the beast, but Bill still isn’t sure it will work.

Bill and Lieutenant Larson of the US Aeronautical Survey Team find Old Man Margrave tied up and half dead in his cabin in Lost Canyon. Two thugs, Hawk and Banjo Eyes, did this the old gentleman to get his treasure hidden up in the mountain cliffs. The key to finding the treasure is a notebook hidden in the cabin. So why does Bill want a football uniform, a pilot's helmet, 100 feet of rope, and 10 pounds of beef to find the treasure? How will Bill, Henry, and Lt. Larson keep the two crooks from stealing or destroying the treasure? What is this mysterious treasure anyway? You'll have to listen to find out.

Skinny is new in town, and he's from the deep country. He is trying, without much luck, to make friends with a gang. The gang ends up killing dozens of birds, and Skinny is a witness. Folks in Knotty Pine are furious. Bill must act quickly to stop this senseless violence.

Stumpy’s horse, Matilda, breaks a leg while out on the trail. Bill doesn’t think they can get her to a vet safely. She saved Stumpy’s life, but he may not be able to save hers.

It is harvest time in the wheat fields around Central City. But a bad flu epidemic has kept many of the farmers out of the fields at this critical time. Ranger Bill sends 3 of his rangers to help with the harvest. One of those rangers considers a career change as he does the harvesting work.

A big cat is seen in backyards around Knotty Pine. Residents panic as news gets around of the unwanted invader. Some say it is 10 or even 15 feet long! Neighbors are getting out their guns to go hunting for the big fella. Can Bill and his rangers corral this tiger cat before someone gets hurt or even killed?

The Deep Country

Col. Anders and his wife get lost in the deep country while they are on vacation. The colonel’s assistant tells the Anders’ daughter that her parents are missing. Those two plus the folks who live in the deep country make Bill’s job of finding the Anders nearly impossible.

This is one of Ranger Bill's very first adventures. It was probably first broadcast in 1950 when the show was several 15-minute adventures aired on Monday afternoons in the greater Chicago area only. Our cast may have also performed this show live to Sunday Schools and church groups to help advertise the broadcasts.

It's time for the Winter Ice Festival in Knotty Pine!!! There will be toboggan runs and downhill skiing for the speed merchants, ice skating and ice carving, and for the very patient - ice fishing. Bill and his rangers have managed to keep the Ice Festival accident free for better than ten years now. But fast drivers and careless folks on the frozen Shady River try hard to break Bill's good record.

Every ranger wants Arnie Nelson's cushy job as flying game warden, including Bill. Arnie takes a month's vacation, so Col. Anders makes Bill the flying game warden. Bill and his rangers find out Arnie's job isn't so easy. Bill must cover a huge section of forest, lakes and rivers, as well as protect and rescue both vacationers as well as the wildlife. And there are poachers, especially the Bixon family. Find out with Bill and the boys just how hard and dangerous the flying game warden's job really is!

The fellas get tired of Jerry's big ego and lack of respect for others. Bill and the boys decide to teach Jerry a few lessons about the forest. See what the boys do to try to wise-up Jerry. See what kind of trouble Jerry gets into during these "lessons." Will Jerry ever learn to be a real ranger?

Henry is taking a long-distance bus trip home to Knotty Pine. He meets the Cavanaugh family and several other of the bus passengers. It’s getting dark and the mountain roads are getting rough, winding, and narrow. Rains have caused landslides, damaging the road and trapping the bus.
