Basil Rascombe is a successful rancher on the Big Mesa. He is also a man with a big problem, his out-of-control temper. Stumpy and Henry are riding on Big Mesa when they find a badly beaten colt. They care for the yearling and put it protective custody. Basil has Stumpy arrested and taken to court. Basil WANTS the colt back. What can our rangers do to rescue both Stumpy and the colt? Can Bill get Basil to control his temper or will rage rule?

Duke the Dung Beetle stops in to say "hello" to Uncle Bob Devine. Duke is often referred to as the garbageman of Africa. He and thousands of other beetles like himself clean up the animal waste lying on the ground. He will eat the undigested plant material in the waste and bury the rest. That buried waste will fertilize the African grasslands giving animals like zebras tall, healthy plants to eat.

Stumpy buys some expensive fishing gear, a car, and a luxury vacation trip to Bermuda. Can this be the end for one of the finest rangers in the forest service? Bill and Henry are checking fire lanes deep in the forest and pretty high up in the mountains. Henry takes a walk out on an old, unused railroad bridge for a bird’s eye view of the Shady Valley. Henry sees that a fallen tree has damaged the bridge. He decides to get off when the bridge collapses dropping him hundreds of feet into the valley. Things go from bad to worse when a train whistle announces that a train is headed for the collapsed bridge.

 I got this email and needed to share it with you:

"Love the website. Ranger Bill is one of my favorite radio shows! And I started listening as an adult. I am looking for any info anyone may have on an old radio show Miron did in the late evenings. It was called “Reverie” I believe. It basically was Miron reading Christian poetry or verses with soft music in the background.

The only reference I have ever found was on the web where a gentleman wrote a paper about Moody Radio for college. In an appendix he list old moody shows and he listed reverie with Miron Canaday as a past show. Other than that, all my research on Miron just connects to Ranger Bill. I realized at the time I listened to reverie, it had to be reruns since it was the early 90’s.

If you have any info or could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it."

RB085 The Deep Country

Col. Anders and his wife get lost in the deep country while they are on vacation. The colonel’s assistant tells the Anders’ daughter that her parents are missing. Those two plus the slow-motion folks who live in the deep country make Bill’s job of finding the Anders nearly impossible.

This is one of Ranger Bill's very first adventures. It was probably first broadcast in 1950 when the show was several 15-minute adventures aired on Monday afternoons in the greater Chicago area only. Our cast may have also performed this show live to Sunday Schools and church groups to help advertise the broadcasts.
