RB202 Christmas Pageant with Bill Pearce

Our third of three Ranger Bill episodes

for Christmastime and late Saturday morning, Dec. 20, 2025, is
Christmas Pageant with Bill Pearce

Henry and his boys club are putting on a Christmas pageant in the high school auditorium. It will close with a short performance by Christian recording artist Bill Pearce. There are rehearsals and many problems to iron out. Henry learns that one of the boys, Johnny, doesn't believe the Christmas story. Henry takes the time to witness to Johnny, and Johnny begins to believe. Johnny asks Henry, "If the Bible is true, why everyone doesn't believe?" Wally, a key boy in the show, is hit by a car and must stay in the hospital. How will the pageant go on with Wally in the hospital? What will happen to Johnny? And what of Bill Pearce?

Christmas Episodes

For those who don't know, there are three RANGER BILL Christmas stories.

The first is RB096 Jimmy's Christmas Miracle.

This is about little Jimmy Bensen. He was injured in a fall and must use a wheelchair. Surgery may repair his legs but it is very expensive.

The second Christmas sory is RB201 Christmas Bells.

This story is about Officer Pat O'Roark. Pat suffers a life-threatening heart attack. He gains hope and strength from the church bells, but they are broken. Herman Schmidt is the only one who can fix the bells, but he is down with severe arthritis.

Number three is RB202 Christmas Pageant with Bill Pearce.

Henry and friends witness at the boys club pageant.

Bill Pearce obituaries

Orbra Bliss was kind enough to locate and send us the web addresses of two obituaries for Bill Pearce. Orbra writes:

There are two sites that would be of interest.
The funeral home in Xenia, which has the complete obituary http://www.neeldfuneralhome.com/sitemaker/sites/NeeldF1/obit.cgi?user=174832Pearce#

And the Naperville Sun, where I think the Nightsounds offices are now located http://legacy.suburbanchicagonews.com/obituaries/stng-napervillesun/obituary-browse.aspx?recentdate=0&type=1

Thanks for that information Orbra!

Death of Bill Pearce

It is my sad duty to tell you that Bill Pearce of the Ranger Bill episode Christmas Pageant with Bill Pearce and also announcer for Ranger Bill went home to his Lord some time in the night between Tuesday Feb. 23 and Wednesday Feb 24. Bill was 87.
Bill will be missed by his many fans from over 25 years with Moody Radio as well as his many years on Nightsounds Radio with Bill Pearce. I understand that Bill passed away at a nursing home in Xenia, Ohio.
I will post his obituary as soon as I can locate it.

Bill Pearce then and now

There is a wonderful article in Wikipedia on Bill Pearce. I heartily recommend it. The article covers most of the major events in Bill's life. Here are a few excerpts from that article:
Bill served in the Marines as a band performer during WWII. After the war, Bill started attending Moody Bible Institute. Bill suffered from ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder. He flunked out of the institute after only one semester. God was there even in his failure at school. The head announcer at WMBI in Chicago got Bill a job there as an announcer. Bill worked at WMBI for 25 years.
Bill performed with the Melody Four and with Dick Anthony in Pearce and Anthony. Bill also recorded NightSounds until 2007.
Bill was born on May 20, 1926 in Carlisle, PA. That makes Bill 83, if my math is correct. Bill loved to perform on the trombone and did until 1995 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
A friend of the club tells me that Bill is currently living in a nursing home in Lancaster, PA.
