Bill and his rangers have a poacher in the national forest. This man has been able to hunt illegally at will and still avoid even being seen. Gray Wolf names this man lupe garu, Wolverine (the glutton). Wolverine disappears then shows up in Alaska poaching fur seals. Washington asks Bill and Gray Wolf to travel to the Arctic Circle to find and capture this criminal. Can the fellas even locate Wolverine in the Arctic, let alone capture him?

 – Ralph is hurt and angry when he is passed over for promotion. The rest of Bill’s rangers don’t like the situation either. To top things off, the newly promoted boss ranger, Gill Zodkin, is sent to Knotty Pine for training. Will Ralph quit? Will the new boss ranger survive?

Note: This show was produced in 1955 and is either a first or second season show. Listen to the differences in both Stumpy's and Gray Wolf's voices in this show compared to the last few week's shows which were made 5 or 6 years after this one. Both Stumpy and Gray Wolf speak slower and have raspier voices here compared to those later episodes.

Bill, Stumpy, and Gray Wolf are part of a huge team of soldiers, law enforcement officers and rangers. Their job - keep anything, man or animal, out of the blast zone of an atomic bomb test. Despite their best efforts, a family of deer (and two spies) manage to slip into the test. The deer are exposed to the blast and must be found! But will they and those spies be able to elude capture? Gray Wolf may hold the key to a safe and successful end to this test.

Gospel Goes to Reform School - RB126

Warden Dawson rules the reform school with an iron hand. Bill wants to come in and offer the boys education, sports, and Bible study. The warden finally lets Bill come. Then a riot breaks out at the school. Will Bill or the warden be able to bring peace to the school?

Soup Truck - RB124

 Our RANGER BILL tale for this midweek is filled with great danger and even greater bravery:

RB124 Soup Truck

A truck carrying nitroglycerin blows up just outside the town of Landslide. The mayor closes Landslide to all dangerous truck traffic. Closing Landslide will put the explosives company out of business and hurt many other businesses. Bill must find a way to prove to the mayor that even nitro can be taken safely through Landslide. 

River of Fire - RB123

   Ranger Bill for Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2023, is:

RB123 - River of Fire 

Officers O'Roark and Ryan are walking the night beat along the docks on the Shady River. The smell of fuel oil stops them in their tracks. The pipeline over the Shady has sprung a huge leak! The river is covered with a solid layer of the fuel oil. The slightest spark could set the river on fire or even cause an explosion. Things go from bad to worse when a bad lightning storm strikes. Bill, the safety forces, and the pipeline company may not be able to handle this disaster.

Sail Sled aka Full Sails - RB165

Bill is flying to San Francisco. He meets a heart doctor on his way to operate on a critically ill patient. The plane is forced to crash land in a snowy mountain pass. Bill must come up with a way to find help and deliver the doctor to San Francisco. Could a gentleman who races sailboats help Bill rescue everyone?

Miles runs the snake farm. He milks poisonous snakes for their venom. Miles shows up at ranger headquarters as white as a sheet. Somehow Miles lost a locked bag containing a deadly king cobra. The bag could be broken into, and the snake could then get out. Bill, Miles and the boys must find the bag and the snake before someone gets hurt or killed!!!

Dutch Vanderhaven lost his son in the war and is very bitter over his loss. He doesn't want any one's help, and he won't help anyone, not orphans, not even the church. Then Dutch is gored by a huge bull. Now Dutch is the one who needs help, but his neighbors won't give him any. Can Bill and Stumpy find a way to get the work done at Dutch's ranch and change a town full of stubbornness?

Mrs. Murphy's Chowder - RB119

Bill and the boys and Maggie Murphy take 50 boys from their church to camp for three weeks. Henry has some problems as lifeguard during swim times. Stumpy and Gray Wolf lead a snipe hunt. Bill deals with one boy's home sickness. But Maggie must deal with a filthy kitchen, feeding 50 hungry boys, and then a food thief. She threatens to leave if the thief isn't caught. Bill must find the guilty boy or lose the best cook west of the Mississippi! Find out what happens to Mrs. Murphy's famous chowder too!!!

Two hunters can't find any deer. So, they decide to shoot little Jerry White's injured pet deer, Torpedo. One of the men even punches Jerry in the face! Jerry's parents ask Ranger Bill to find the men and bring them to justice. People in town are in a rage over the hunters' actions. The hunt is on for the hunters. Will Bill be able to find the men and bring justice and order back to the town of Three Forks?

Mr. Benton is rude and expects ALL the rules to be followed to the letter without deviation or exception!!! Bill refuses to follow Mr. Benton's rule book. Benton suspends Bill, and the rangers revolt.

An out-of-control missile is flying over Knotty Pine. It could fall from the sky at any time and explode! Bill could choose to have the missile shot down, but that would destroy millions of dollars of damage to the national forest.

Mad Bats - RB112

   Thursday's RANGER BILL for 1/12/23, is:

RB112 The Mad Bats

 Bats invade the attic of the Phipps' home, and one even bites Edna Phipps. Bill and Stumpy go to evict the bats and discover the bats are sick with rabies! The boys get help fighting off the bats from some feathered friends. One of the Phipps' neighbors causes Bill even more trouble than those pesky bats.

Prehistoric Monster - RB111

   RANGER BILL for midweek, Jan 11,2023, with:

RB111 The Prehistoric Monster

 The circus has arrived at Junction City. A full-grown bull rhino is its main attraction. This particular rhino doesn't like being in the circus. The huge beast breaks his chains and charges off into the forest. Bill and the boys are called in to find and shoot the marauder before he hurts anyone or does any serious damage. Can our rangers safely corner this prehistoric monster? Will Stumpy's pride endanger the hunt and possibly endanger lives too?

Battle at Jenkins Manor - RB110

 RANGER BILL for this Tuesday, 1/10/23, is one knock-down, drag-out fight

It's been many years since Stumpy's wife died; and he has finally decided that he doesn't have the time or energy to take care of himself and his house. Bill convinces him that he needs a housekeeper until Bill nominates Maggie Murphy for the job.

Maggie is a strong woman. She needs to be strong, a widow with four boys to care for. She acts much like a drill sergeant, which doesn't set well with Stumpy.

Stumpy is so desperate for a better home life that he hires Maggie, Stumpy's worst fears about allowing Maggie in his house are quickly realized and the battle begins! 

Man Who Lost God - RB109

  Our RANGER BILL to begin the new work week, 1/9/23, is an Old Testament style mystery:

RB109 The Man Who Lost God

Bill's rangers spot large campfires on the top of Razorback Ridge. Bill, Stumpy, and Gray Wolf go to investigate. They find what appear to be animal sacrifices like sacrifices in the Old Testament. No one is sure who is doing this and why. At the same time the wealthy Thompson family send out letters searching for their lost son. Bill has his hands full with two mysteries at once!

It appears as through RB108 The Wrong Valley and RB109 are both stories of men who have lost God, each in their own way.

Little Spark - RB161

  RB161 "A Little Spark" was our early Saturday RB adventure for 1/7/23. 

Sparks fly when competing lumber yard owners Tim O'Malley and Carl Walterson argue. Tim has been in business in Knotty Pine for many years. Walterson has been working hard to build his new lumber yard.  O'Malley accuses Walterson of stealing his customers and trying to run Tim out of business. O'Malley's lumber yard catches fire with his son inside. Tim has Carl arrested for arson.

Wrong Valley - RB108

  RANGER BILL for late Saturday morning, 1/7/23, is one of faith in the midst of pain and suffering

Jacq McIntosh is Knotty Pine's blacksmith and one very powerful man. He is usually quite happy and full of joy. He likes to sing worship songs as he works. Trouble visits the McIntosh home suddenly one day with terrible force. His wife Annie is blinded in an explosion, and his son Ernie is badly injured in an auto accident. Jacq is angry with God and feels like Job. Can anything more go wrong for Jacq? Will anger and despair keep Josh in the terrible valley of depression? Can Bill do anything to bring Jacq out of that wrong valley?

Petticoat Rangers - RB107

  Our RANGER BILL for a lovely Friday afternoon, 1/6/23, is a classic:

Bill doesn't have enough men for all the work around the national forest. He and his rangers have to work 18 hours a day. Bill has a solution to the problem - women volunteers in the fire towers. The rangers refuse to allow women rangers. Will the rangers work themselves to death or will they give Bill's PETTICOAT RANGERS a chance? Can female rangers do a ranger's work if they get that chance? In my opinion, this is one of the funniest Ranger Bill stories ever! You get to hear some of Stumpy's funniest and most famous lines! And you get to see a little of what life was like back in the 1950's.

Terror on Finger River - RB106

 RANGER BILL for Thursday, 1/5/23, is one scary mystery:

The Finger River flows out of the Rockies and into the Pacific. Much of the river is a mix of salt and fresh water. That mix makes hunting and fishing along the river excellent. Suddenly, fishing lines are being robbed and hunters are losing their kills to something in the river. The thief appears to be a barracuda, a killer with two rows of razor-sharp teeth and fins. Bill must find this thief and stop it - whatever it is. Can Bill locate our thief, or will terror continue on the Finger River?

Falling Giants - RB105

 Our Ranger Bill adventure 

for Wednesday, January 4, 2023 is

The Falling Giants

The Giant Pines are falling over without any explanation. Bill and the boys must find out what is happening before the forest is lost. What is causing this? Is it insects, a new disease, poor soil. or what? Millions of dollars of beautiful, majestic pines are in danger. The forest service and lumber companies want answers, and Bill is at a loss to provide those answers.

Fighting Parson - RB104

  RANGER BILL for this Tuesday, 1/3/23, is:

Silvertown is a rough, tough mining town. The miners there spend all their free time drinking and scaring the residents. They have driven five preachers out of the only church in town. The few members of the church ask Bill to find a parson willing to fight - with his fists. Bill gets Spence Fielding, a powerful young man from State U. Can Bill and Spence get Silvertown under control? Or will the drunken miners succeed in destroying the church?

Water Hot Rods - RB103

There's trouble on Beaver Lake. A group of young men, including Henry, are racing their power boats on the lake. Most of them are racing safely, but the boys with the fastest boat are endangering everyone else using the lake. Folks want Bill to stop the speed boating. Bill comes up with a plan to stop the dangerous boating. Then the troublemakers find a way to foil Bill's plan. Who will win this battle of wits? Will Bill be able to protect innocent vacationers on Beaver Lake?
