Buses heading for Knotty Pine are crashing. It's not poor weather or icy roads that are causing these accidents. Bus drivers on the night route from Junction City to Knotty Pine are seeing animals, ghost animals, crossing the road in front of them causing the drivers to swerve and wreck. Gus McDougal will go out of business unless the road ghosts and the wrecks stop. Gus asks Bill and the boys to look into the problem. Are the animals real? Are the road ghosts real? And what can Bill do about ghosts anyway?

Ranger Bill and the boys take a trip to State U. to give chemist Dr. Thaddeus Draper some soil samples to test. The fellas walk into an disagreement between Dr. Draper and his grandson Mel. Dr. Draper wants to Mel to follow in his footsteps and become a research chemist. Mel wants to be an agricultural chemist but won't buck his grandfather. Bill sees the tension building between the Drapers. Mel asks for Bill's help with his grandfather. Then Dr. Draper wants Bill to talk Mel into being a research chemist. Bill is between a rock and a diehard. What is he going to do in this situation? Can Bill make either Draper happy, or will both be mad at Bill and at each other?

A cargo plane crash lands at Knotty Pine airport. A short time later, an airport employee is found dead inside a hanger near the plane’s cargo boxes. He has been crushed to death. Who or what could do this? Ranger Bill is called in to investigate. He suspects something escaped one of the cargo boxes.

 RANGER BILL begins a new work week by trying to kill himself and all his men:

The towns of Silver Springs and Claytown are surrounded by 10 forest fires and their citizens are trapped. The southern district rangers can't fight these blazes alone. They call Bill and his men and equipment to control the fires. This is one of the biggest fires the state has ever had. And to top it off, the train bringing equipment from Knotty Pine breaks down. Can Bill help get these fires under control or will rangers and innocent citizens die?

RB006 The Fire Bug or, in Bill's own words, The Iron Fire Bugs

The railroad engines in Randolph Thompson's Red Valley Freight Line are threatening to burn up all the trees in Giant Pine National Park. Many of Thompson's engines are old coal-fired steam engines. Randolph pushes the engines hard so that they belch out volumes of smoke and sparks, setting the nearby dry forest ablaze.
Ranger Bill tries to get Thompson to either stop using the old coal burners or put spark arresters on their stacks. Thompson will not cooperate. What can Bill do to protect the forest and save the giant pines?
How does Bill live the Christian life in this story? Is anyone affected by Bill's actions and how?

Elderly prospector Joshua Webb is told by his doctor to stay in Knotty Pine for his health. The old desert rat can no longer take the 120 degree heat and the burning sunshine. But the lure of gold fever takes him back into the desert anyway. Bill, Stumpy, Gray Wolf, and Ralph must brave the scortching heat to rescue Joshua before it's too late.

No, Stumpy wasn't arrested for speeding or  for robbery, but he was crushed and gored by a buffalo bull. Now the Old Timer struggles for life. After weeks of rest and recouperation, the old fella is left weak and tired and in pain. Then later he struggles for the courage to get healthy and return to work. Bill gives the Old Timer 30 days to get back to work or lose his ranger job.

Two misbehaving boys, Justin and Peter, must stay after school as punishment for working on sports plays instead of paying attention in class. The boys tell their parents that their teacher Miss Anderson is prejudiced against sports because she is crippled. Both of the boys’ fathers want Miss Anderson punished or worse.

The Hill Gang and the River Gang are rivals. These young hoodlums like battling one another on the back of Mrs. Kane’s property just outside of Knotty Pine. She called the police on their latest fight. The gangs plan to resume their interrupted fight the very next night. Then they intend to get revenge on Mrs. Kane herself!

 John Patterson is the Forest Service accountant for the Northwest District and one of Bill’s rangers. John is a fine Christian and works hard to do a good job. But recently John has been worrying himself sick over an accounting error of thousands of dollars that he can’t find to correct. He won’t tell anyone or ask for help and a federal audit is only days away.

Ralph, chief ranger of the souther district, stops to tell Bill that there is a hermit living in the old line shack. That hermit has a secret. He is a famous surgeon, Dr. William Warburton. He operated on a friend, but the friend died. His grief drove him to live like a hermit. A mountain climber needs brain surgery or he will die. Only Dr. Warburton can perform the delicate work.

Sleeping Death - RB036

  Ranger Bill closes the work week with

– Sleeping Sickness infects the Central City area. Local manpower and equipment are not enough to control the mosquito population. The rangers are called in to help spray for mosquitoes, but one large landowner won’t allow the spraying on his land leaving many in danger of infection.

  RANGER BILL tries to make peace between two competitors this Wednesday, June 14, 2023:

 RB034 – Piggyback – Dangerous winter weather and complex delivery problems threaten the survival of both Canyon City Truck Lines and the railroad. Leonard Grant, owner of CCTL, and Spence Neihoff, superintendent of the Knotty Pine railroad district, do not get along and refuse to work with one another. Bill must teach these men how to work together instead of against each other.

Boy and a Bomb - RB002

RB002 A Boy and a Bomb

 Bill gets secret orders to escort bomb expert Hal Dever to the Army proving grounds to test a bomb timing device. Hal is also a single father who pays little attention to his lonely son Jim. The boy takes Hal’s timer and manages to start it ticking.

RB025 Timid Tomothy 

Tim Sullivan has a long history of getting into bad business deals. When his uncle offers him a good job as logging manager, he is afraid to fail once more. Tim’s dad, Officer Mike Sullivan, asks Bill to step in and try to make Tim into a successful businessman. Bill enlists several of his rangers to help Tim. Even Frenchy DeSalle and his lumberjacks get in the act.

The state championship bobsled races are going to be held at Culver’s Peak. Top speeds are expected to exceed 60 miles per hour! Our rangers will be racing against the Cole brothers and their faster sled. Our rangers have won these races for the last three years running, but the Cole brothers could end their winning streak.

Two college students go hunting for dinosaur bones in Fossil Canyon. They are overcome by the heat of the canyon and are unable to get out. Bill and his rangers must brave the 115 degree heat of the canyon to find the boys before it’s too late.

 The town of Rivers Bend builds some new dikes and levees to protect the city and its residents from the flood waters of the Shady River. But dikes can’t protect Rivers Bend from Zack Stephens and the huge log rafts he floats down the river.

RB030 – Flaming Grass – Bill issues prairie warnings for Knotty Pine County during a summer with no rain, but farmers and ranchers refuse to adopt fire control measures, so Bill calls in Big Brute for help.

RB026 Henry's Miracle

This is the story of Henry at the age of ten when his world fell apart. First, he is crippled in a fall. Then his mother develops cancer and dies. Then to add insult to injury, his dad becomes gravely ill and may die, which would leave young Henry all alone in the world.

RB179 VIPs Visit Knotty Pine aka The Disappearing Buffalo Herd

   RANGER BILL for Monday, 6/5/23, is

RB179 "VIPs Visit Knotty Pine" aka "The Disappearing Buffalo Herd".

Today's RANGER BILL is a real treat! This was the second RB story after "Pendleton Valley Fire". This story was originally four 15-minute episodes aired in Octorber and November of 1950. And it aired again as this 30-minute episode that aired in April, 1954.

Colonel Anders comes to Knotty Pine to inform Bill that the governor, a senator, and the Secretary of State are coming to Knotty Pine to see the buffalo herd, the lagest in this country, 48 head. Bill goes to tell Stumpy and Gray Wolf of the VIPs visit, only to find the herd had completely disappeared. Our rangers search all over, with no sign of any buffalo.

Bill thinks a little swim in the icy waters of the Shady is a good idea at this point!!!???

 RB021 – Death on the Waterfront – Six healthy men fall ill suddenly and die. All these men had been in Knotty Pine’s warehouse district along the Shady River recently. Bill thinks Bubonic Plague may be the cause. But how do you stop plague not to mention the panic this is going to create?

Ice Pack - RB024

  RANGER BILL for Friday, 6/2/23, is RB024

Ice Pack 

The vessel Sea Chaser is trapped in the huge, powerful ice flows near Alaska. When they are unable to contact anyone by radio, the passengers and crew plan a mutiny. Bill and his rangers are called in to find Sea Chaser and bring everyone safely home.
